That picture seems like it explains Vegas very well. That’s awesome to have gone to Vegas so many times. Vegas is definitely a place I plan to visit after I graduate in December.

Favorite Summer Vacation

Hilton Head was a place I mentioned as well. Definitely a beautiful and peaceful place. I think it is a nice get-a-way spot. Also, I love your blogging style.

It’s a smile, it’s a kiss, it’s a sip of wine, it’s summertime!

Memorable Family Vacations

Image

I would have to say my favorite summer vacations were a few years ago in Pawleys Island and Hilton Head.  These places stand out as my favorite summer vacations because they were memorable family trips.  I cherish my family more than anything, so anytime I am able to spend quality time with them I always cherish the moment and enjoy it.

Pawleys Island is a beautiful island located in South Carolina.  I enjoyed Pawleys Island because one it was a new place, but more importantly I got a chance to spend a whole week with family that I did not get to see everyday, as well as meeting new family members that I have never met before. During the trip, I got to hear family stories, fish with my cousins and uncles and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Being that my family owned property there, we were on a whole resort just by ourselves enjoying one another.   Pawleys Island was a very relaxed and laid-back family atmosphere.

A few years later I enjoyed another nice, relaxed family trip to Hilton Head, which is also located in South Carolina.   I really enjoyed Hilton Head.  Once again, our family got together and made plenty of memories. We had a blast from enjoying the beach, shopping, tour guides and learning about the history.  The scenery there is beautiful and definitely worth visiting again.

I would definitely love to go back to Pawleys Island and Hilton Head one day.  I believe I will enjoy these destinations even more being that I now know what to expect and can prepare better and know more of what to do while there.  I also can appreciate art, life, and culture more now.  I can’t wait to travel again!

I agree. People do millions of things at the same time, but it is at their own risk, because they are aware that they could crash or run into something.  People need to be responsible for their own actions, not getting fined or banned.  There are plenty of other things that we need to worry about other than communication.  Yes, it seems they are trying to ticket for anything.  The government should not try and control every bit of our lives.  Yes, that was a funny video about the lady.  She definitely should have been aware of her surroundings being that she worked there.  You snooze( not paying attention ), sometimes you lose (falling or getting hurt). The choice is yours.

Texting while Walking

Yes, I agree.  This is a tedious situation.  Although there are health concerns that could result from this, people will do what they want to do.  The government tries controlling any part of our daily life that could possibly be harm, but reality is we live in a dangerous crazy world where people are going to do what they want.  Yes, I think people should become more aware about the dangers, but it is ultimately up to that person whether they want to do that or not.  Tax dollars were definitely wasted, and will continue if other states pick this law up.

Pay Now or Pay Later: Texting while Walking

Image

I do believe texting while walking can be a dangerous behavior.  People have been injured from this behavior, but they have acted on their own risk.  We are aware we can barely text and have a full conversation at the same time.  So it’s safe to say that we are not fully aware of our surrounding when we are texting while walking.  As I said before, yes I think this can be dangerous, but not dangerous enough to fine or ban.

I have been guilty of texting while walking.  It is not a habit, but sometimes that message seems that important to text at the moment. I believe if anyone has texted and walked before, at one point they lifted their head and thought, “Oh snap, I didn’t see that.” It’s like our minds think why not, my feet are moving me to where I need to go.  Yet, we forget that we need our eyes to clearly follow us to our destination.  Studies have found that serious health risks and permanent health problems are the result of our mobile technology, like ‘text neck’.  According to an article by  The Text Neck Institute, ‘Text Neck’ comes from repeated stress injury to the body caused by excessive texting and overuse of all handheld electronic devices.    The term, and health condition comes from the onset of cervical spinal degeneration resulting from the repeated stress of frequent forward head flexion while looking down at the screens of mobile devices and ‘texting’ for long period of times.  Text Neck’ is a global epidemic affecting millions around the globe.

The choice is left up to the individual, but I do not think it is worth fining or banning.  This behavior is not as serious as texting while driving, but both behaviors can be dangerous.  I think it is hard to fine people while walking.  I know some things can wait, but what if you are just looking down at your phone at the moment but not texting, will you still get fined?  I feel there are other things in this world we need to be worried about and monitoring rather than trying to fine or ban people that are texting while walking.  I think it is one of those things that you should know the risks, but take them at your own caution.

As a PR professional, I would use brochures, flyers, signs and articles as my PR tactics to try and spread the word to the public about this global behavior that is affecting people around the globe.

Nice post.  I would definitely agree with your addition to the list.  Getting to know the people you are dealing with is very important. Like you said, once you get to know the person, you can deal with them accordingly and become less frustrated.  Yes, I believe we have all experienced those classmates that seem impossible to work with, but once we get to know them better, they aren’t that bad.  Great advice to print out!

I agree, I think Ragan did a great job of covering different ways to deal with difficult people. I don’t think there is one day that we don’t come in communication with difficult people, but I believe “empathizing” does help smooth out the tension. When people feel like they are cared for they often lighten up and try and not give you as hard of a time. Customer service isn’t the same now a days so people and customers act accordingly in that light.

Ragan’s PR Daily 12 productive ways to deal with difficult people

Image

“ Difficult people are your key to self empowerment, you need to learn how to cope with them, not let them dominate and affect you.” – Janice Davies

The world is made up of individuals all with different motives.  Some people try and work with you and others try to work against you.  As I have grown, I have tried to master these 12 ways of dealing with difficult people knowing that we all have different motives and directions in life.  It is not easy to deal with difficult people, but I do believe trying to master these 12 ways will help you communicate better with these individuals.

I think Ragan’s PR Daily gave a great list of ways to deal with difficult people, I can’t think of anything I would add.  All of the ways listed were in a nutshell of how I have learned over the years to deal with difficult people.    I have found myself using all 12 ways at one time or another and some more than the other.

In any facet of life, you will encounter difficult people.  I think the number one thing to dealing with difficult people is recognizing who you are dealing with and deal with them accordingly.  Not everyone communicates the same.

By just simply living life, I have been able to learn each step and learn how to deal with them. Dealing with difficult people allows for self-growth and the ability to learn how to act accordingly based on the communication style.
